When You’re in a Leadership Role
Traits of a Leader
Here at Big Sky Collision Center our passion is to create leaders. Every one of our employees has the opportunity to attend leadership training, and most take that opportunity. The result is employees that take ownership of their job, and you, the customer, benefits by their meticulous attention to detail.
As leaders, we want to pass along the information that we have learned to you. If you are in a leadership role, then you will have the unique opportunity to inspire others. A lot of it begins with knowing the way.
A good leader…
Knows the Way
Part of being a leader is having a plan. You need to know where you are, where you’re going, and how you’re going to get there. If this sounds foreign to you, go back and read about what happens when you fail to plan.
As a leader you are in a position where you have to do more work than those whom you are leading. You have to spend time outside of the leadership role to develop yourself, develop your plan (mission), and take ownership of it all.
If you want to effectively lead, you must know the way exactly.
Goes the Way
You have heard the saying, “You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?” That’s exactly what this part of the quote is talking about. There are many people out there that can dream big, and develop a plan. But without putting it into action those goals are nothing more than dreams.
When you’re a leader, you are in the position that you know the way, but you also have to go the way. This means that you can’t just give directions and bark orders. You have to practice what you preach.
Shows the Way
As a leader you know where your business is going. You also go the way so that you arrive as well as your employees. But you are in the position where you have to teach others how to get there as well. While most people are able to simply follow along and go the way, you have to show them.
You know it, you do it, and now you must teach it. Bring others on board with your mission and vision, and teach them how to accomplish the dream. Are you a boss that says, “Go!’ or are you a leader that says, “Let’s go!”?
Big Sky Collision Center Trains Leaders
Here at Big Sky Collision Center, our goal is to be the best auto body repair shop in the entire country. And we believe that starts with investing in our employees. By building them up as leaders, they are no longer “going to work” every day. Instead, they are going to make a difference. They are going to build themselves, train themselves, and grow themselves. The byproduct is that your car receives expert attention, and is meticulously repaired.
Are you leading?
Did you know that Big Sky Collision Center also details cars? We detail every car that we repair, so we already have the shop set up. This is open to the public! Give us a call at 406-259-6328 to schedule a time to have your vehicle cleaned before winter!
