Take Care of Those Dents!
Small Dents Can Lead to Major Problems
Here at Big Sky Collision Center we want to make sure that everyone is driving a car that not only looks great, and is also safe to drive. But if you have an older car, or perhaps one that you just aren’t that worried about, you might think that small dents are no big deal. And they aren’t… until they become one.
Small dents can lead to major problems. If you see these problems with your car, bring it in to the best auto body shop in Billings and we can get your car back to peak performance, and, more importantly, peak safety!
Small Dents Lead to Rust
Many of the dents you get in your car won’t lead to rust. That’s because the little tiny ones aren’t big enough to crack, chip, or otherwise ding the paint. As long as the paint is intact, then you don’t have to worry too much about rust.
But if that paint is damaged, even just a tiny bit, water will begin to get under it. The result is that your car, which is primarily made from steel, will start to rust. And we all know that a little bit of rust grows. And it grows. Until you are left with a door or fender that has a gaping hole in it.
That large rusty hole will be much more expensive to fix than the small ding it started out as.
Small Dents Throw off Alignment
If you were to watch, from beginning to end, how much work goes into engineering a vehicle, you would likely be bored to tears. Unless you’re a mechanical engineer or in a similar profession. The fact of the matter is that vehicles are designed to be shaped exactly the way they are shaped. A small adjustment may mean the overall balance of your vehicle is now out of whack.
After a small accident, you may think that the car is running just fine. But you find out that the ride seems bumpier, and your tires are wearing out faster than they used to. What is happening is that the overall alignment of the frame has been thrown off.
A small dent can cause some serious issues down the road. And those issues may end up causing you to get into a bigger accident.
Big Sky Collision Center Fixes Dents
In the first section we are talking about very small dents such as door dings and hail damage. Those likely aren’t going to make you get into a wreck, but they will eventually lead to furthering problems with your vehicle. In the second section we are talking about small accidents such as backing into a mailbox or parked car. It may seem small, but there could be a host of underlying problems.
If you have any concerns, bring the car in and we will give it a look. Call us at 406-259-6328 to schedule an appointment.
