Cold Weather Usually Slows the Repair Process

We Don’t Let Temperature Stop Us
Winter is a time of snow and ice. That precipitation doesn’t discriminate where it falls, landing on the grass and the roads alike. Most of the time the City of Billings is able to clear the snow off reducing problems with driving in the winter. But sometimes it’s just a little warm, and the snow melts, then freezes, then causes accidents.
During the winter months, more people are in need of collision repair work in Billings. But at the same time, collision repair work usually goes slower because it’s cold out. Here at Big Sky Collision Center we have invested heavily in our facilities to make sure we can get the repairs done no matter what Mother Nature throws at us.
Indoor Space for All Repairs
You would be hard pressed to find an auto body shop that tries to do repairs outside. That’s just not very reasonable. However, there are many that don’t have the space to have more than a couple of vehicles in the shop at the same time. This means that they are pulling dented and dinged rigs off the yard, and trying to work on them quickly so they can move on to the next.
The problem isn’t with the space, it’s with the temperature. When a vehicle doesn’t have time to warm completely, the metal is harder to work with, the plastic risks cracking, and when pulling out dents, there’s the risk of cracking the paint surrounding them.
Here at Big Sky Collision, we can bring multiple vehicles inside, and then allow them to warm to room temperature. When they are up to the temperature they need to be at to work on the metal safely, only then do we have to start the repair process.
Faster Paint Dry Times
Paint takes time to dry. Especially auto body paint where you have to let it fully cure in order to make sure that it’s hard enough to be exposed to the elements. You can’t have it in the least bit tacky when you’re whipping down the road!
Big Sky Collision has a bay just for drying paint. This tiny room heats to more than 100 degrees, cooking the paint in place and drying it much faster than it would be able to at room temperature, or especially in winter temperatures in Montana.
We don’t have to wait around for your car’s paint to dry; we can get it solidified quickly.
