A Reminder not to Text and Drive
You’re not as good at it as you think.
For the past dozen years or so, we have learned about the dangers of texting while driving. We have read the statistics, seen the public service announcements, and we “know” that it’s not a good choice. But many people still text while drive (or Facebook while driving, or email; it’s all the same thing). Here at Big Sky Collision Center we want to remind you not to text and drive. But don’t take our word for it.
Your Final Text Message
Here at Big Sky Collision Center, we see a lot of cars that have been in accidents. Some are simple fender benders where someone merged incorrectly, didn’t stop on time, or backed into a vehicle in a parking lot. Mistakes happen.
Some of the vehicles we see have tremendous amounts of damage. Fortunately with modern vehicle technology, collisions aren’t deadly as often. Unfortunately, the vast majority can still be prevented.
There are hundreds of anti-texting and driving videos out there. Some are horrendously graphic, some are cheesy, and some are well made. They all have the same message: texting and driving kills.
If you have 10 minutes to spare, take a look at this video. It’s a non-graphic message about texting and driving. Even the first 2 minutes are enough to make the tears well up.
Why Text and Drive?
Texting is addicting. It’s a way of staying socially connected at those times that you can’t be connected. Many people have a fear of being alone, whether they choose to admit that or not. So when the phone dings, their first instinct is to see who is giving them attention.
The result is often deadly.
Sadly, the result is often deadly for someone other than those doing the texting. Their distraction is enough to cause a wreck. That wreck can end up claiming the life of an innocent person that was paying attention and ignoring their phone.
If you still text and drive, put the phone down. Not for yourself, but to prevent taking another life. Could you live knowing that your actions cost another person their life?
Big Sky Collision Center Fixes Cars
Vehicles can be fixed. Those that have too extensive of damage can be replaced. Some collisions are accidents, but not those caused by texting and driving. Those aren’t accidents, but rather completely avoidable crashes. We can fix your vehicle; we can detail it back to its like-new glory. We can’t replace lost lives or fix human bodies.
